![]() ![]() This way I could use that to secure the new flooring to the old. Im not an engineer or a boat builder, but I was thinking of making a lip by screwing a 6" strip of 3/4" marine ply to the underside of the remaining 2-3" edge of old flooring. The other way is to glass it in edge to edge, but this seems to me not as strong structurally. ![]() Although this would be strong structurally, I think there must be a better way. ![]() Also I would have to reconfigure the whole interior so that it all fits back in flush with the deck. I would also have to add a spacer over the stringers so the new flooring would meet. My plan is to use new 3/4" marine ply, but Im not sure just exactly what is the best way to go about reglassing it all in.Ī freind recomended sheeting right on top of whats left of the old flooring(I left approximately 2-3" of flooring around the edges of the hull) but that raises the whole floor almost an inch (after glassing). Next I opened up the boat as much as possible and let everything completely dry out. The stringers seem to be in good shape and all the glassing is intact. Some of the foam had also become saturated and rotted and I dug this out as well. I used a skill saw and sawzall to cut through the old glassed 3/4" ply leaving approx 3' around the sides of where the old flooring is glassed with tape to the hull. The boat has a closed bow and all the flooring under here seemed intact and solid. So I decided that the entire floor would have to be replaced, up to at least where the bow covers it. It bacame aparent to me that piece fixing and patching was not an option, as I want it done right. I started by removing the whole interior and old carpet to get a better look. #CENTURION BOAT CARPET DRIVER#Upon taking out the old carpet The flooring was noted to be rotted in several places, especially underneath the front driver and passenger seat where it had rotted completely though the old 3/4" ply.
